个人简历

Dr Delieu is Lecturer in Anatomy within the School of Medical Sciences, a role he also enjoys at The Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Shropshire. He is a Visiting Lecturer of Anatomy at Keele University’s Medical School and an Honorary Clinical Teacher at Cardiff Medical School as well as being involved with the Wales Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience (WICN) summer schools.
Dr Delieu is the University’s Designated Individual, overseeing the appropriate use of Human Tissue. Since the establishment of the Human Tissue Authority (HTA), there have been strict legally binding parameters to follow when storing and using human tissue. The Human Tissue Act (HT Act), 2004 provides a framework for regulating the storage and use of human organs and tissue from the living, and the removal, storage and use of tissue and organs from the deceased, for specific health related purposes and public display.
Any activity within the University that involves the use of organs (including prosections), tissues and cells has to follow strict Standard Conditions. The HT Act makes it an offence to have human tissue, including hair, nail and gametes in this context, with the intention of analysing its DNA without the consent of the individual from whom the tissue came, or of those close to them if they have died. In order to comply with the Act all establishments that have any dealings with human material have to be licensed, with a Designated Individual identified. University guidance on teh HTA regulations can be found here.
Although Dr Delieu initially qualified as a nurse, working with elderly, paediatrics and as a charge nurse in sexually transmitted diseases, he later changed direction and studied Anatomy and Cell Biology at Sheffield University. He completed The Harvard Pathology Course at the Institute of Orthopaedics in Oswestry and the Advanced Course in Head, Neck and Neuroanatomy at St Hugh’s College, Oxford.
